Think About It

No one ever became great except through many and great mistakes. — William E Gladstone

Don’t Gamble With Your Career

                                       Your College Investment:

4-5 (or more) Years

Tens of Thousands (or more) Dollars

Lots of hard work and important decisions

After investing that much, will you still wind up saying this after you graduate?

  • What kind of job can I get with this major?
  • I didn’t know that communication skills were going to be so important to employers.
  • The things we learned in class were very different from what they expect at work.
  • I could have done this job without a degree, why won’t they give me more responsibility?
  • The skills it took to be successful in college are very different from what it takes to be successful at my job.  I’m totally unprepared.
  • Someday I’ll find a job that I really like, for now I really just need to pay the bills, and these student loans.
  • It’s tough to even get an interview.
  • I had no idea that searching for a job was going to be so much work.

If you’re still in college, you have the chance to do what it takes to say this instead:

  • I got a job working with someone I knew
  • I knew exactly what they were looking for and had great stories to show them I was the right person for the job.
  • I knew that this career was a great fit for me because it’s something I’m not only interested in, but I’m also really good at.
  • I’m excited about where this career is heading.
