Career Gap
The Career Gap is the disconnect between what employers expect, and need from graduates and other employees (who graduated a long time ago) and what they are seeing. It’s also the gap between what a graduate expects from a job and the reality of that job.
Why is their a gap? Academic requirements don’t necessarily line up with employer requirements. Although much of the academic information that is taught may be applied in the workplace, there are many other employer needs that simply aren’t taught in the classroom.
These include leadership, communications skills, the ability to make decisions, professionalism, and many other critical skills that are necessary for success.
